Beyond EV Subsidies: How the Green Marshall Plan Will Lead America’s Transition to a Cleaner, Fairer Future
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we reflect on the journey of our recent campaign, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who knocked on doors, made calls, donated, and lifted up the movement for a better tomorrow. While we may not have claimed electoral victory this time, our fight is far from over. In fact, our mission—to enact a Green Marshall Plan and secure a universal basic income—is more urgent and vital than ever before.
We are standing at a crossroads, not just for Northern Nevada, but for our country and the world. The old story of American industry was written in the Motor Cities of the 20th century. Today, we have the opportunity—and the responsibility—to craft a new chapter right here in our own backyard. Northern Nevada is poised to become the Motor City of the 21st century; powered not by fossil fuels, but by clean, renewable energy and the lithium loop that makes electric vehicles possible.
This is our moment to lead, to innovate, and to ensure that the transition to a green economy leaves no one behind. The path ahead will not be easy. There will be powerful interests pushing to maintain the status quo. But we know that the status quo is unsustainable: for our climate, for our communities, and for the generations who will inherit the world we shape today.
A Green Marshall Plan for Northern Nevada
The Green Marshall Plan is not just a slogan. It is a comprehensive vision for revitalizing our economy, protecting our environment, and creating good-paying jobs for all. This plan draws inspiration from the bold investments that rebuilt Europe after World War II. Today, our challenge is to rebuild our economy on a foundation of sustainability, justice, and shared prosperity.
What does this mean for Northern Nevada? It means investing in clean manufacturing, expanding renewable energy infrastructure, and ensuring that the benefits of innovation reach every corner of our community—from the heart of Reno to rural towns and tribal lands. It means supporting workers through robust training programs, guaranteeing a living wage, and providing a universal basic income so that everyone can share in the fruits of progress.
The Lithium Loop: Energizing the Future
Northern Nevada sits at the center of the lithium revolution. Our region is home to rich deposits of this critical mineral, which forms the backbone of batteries that power electric vehicles. By harnessing this resource responsibly, we can create a closed loop system that drives economic growth and environmental stewardship.
This is about more than mining; it’s about building a sustainable supply chain—from extraction to recycling—that creates local jobs, protects our land and water, and positions Northern Nevada as a global leader in the clean energy transition. By investing in research, innovation, and community oversight, we can ensure that everyone benefits from the lithium loop, not just corporate shareholders.
Progressive EV Subsidies: Leading the World
To truly accelerate the shift to clean transportation, we must go further than any region or country has before. Norway’s success in making electric vehicles mainstream is inspiring, but we can do better. Our vision is to implement the most progressive EV subsidies in the world, making clean, affordable transportation accessible to all, regardless of income.
Imagine a future where every family in Northern Nevada can trade in their gas guzzler for a zero-emission vehicle, with generous rebates that cover the full cost for those who need it most. Imagine free charging infrastructure in every neighborhood, and public transit electrified for the 21st century. This is not a distant dream; it is a policy agenda we can achieve, together.
The Fight Continues: Eyes on 2028
Many of you have asked: What’s next? My answer is simple: the fight continues. The issues we care about—climate justice, economic dignity, and a fair future for all—are too important to set aside. I am preparing to run again in 2028, and I ask for your continued support, your ideas, and your determination.
In the months ahead, we will be organizing town halls, building coalitions, and advancing bold policy proposals at every level of government. Whether or not you were involved in the campaign, there is a place for you in this movement. We need your voice, your passion, and your vision for a better Northern Nevada.
Let’s build the Motor City of the 21st century right here. Let’s make Northern Nevada a model for the nation: a place where innovation, justice, and prosperity go hand in hand. Our work is just beginning, and together, we can—and will—change the course of history.
With gratitude and determination,
Gamy Enriquez, MPA
