Thank You for Your Support: Reflecting on Our Campaign

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As the dust settles on this incredible, inspiring journey—my first campaign for Congress—I want to take a moment to thank each of you for believing in our vision of universal economic policies for all, from cradle to grave, with a universal basic income paid for by billionaires that do not pay their fair share, and for your unwavering support. Whether you volunteered, donated, shared our message, or simply cheered us on, I am deeply grateful and more hopeful than ever about what we can achieve together.

A Remarkable Showing Against the Odds

According to preliminary results from the New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR, voter turnout in our district was strong, with over 51,591 people casting ballots. Of these, 845 voters chose to support our campaign for a new direction—representing approximately 1.6% of all votes cast.

Given the limited resources available to us—far less than many of our competitors, and without the organizational support or funding I had initially been expecting based on conversations—this is an achievement that speaks volumes about the power of grassroots organizing and the desire for change in our community. We ran as true insurgents, challenging the status quo and amplifying voices that have too often gone unheard.

A Positive Path Forward

While we did not secure the nomination, our campaign made a lasting impact. We sparked important conversations, built new coalitions, and inspired many to get involved for the first time. Every door knocked, every call made, and every vote cast for our campaign was a beacon of hope and a testament to our shared belief in a brighter future.

As Mahatma Gandhi so wisely said, "We must be the change we want to see in the world." And as Nelson Mandela reminded us, "It always seems impossible until it is done." These words have guided us throughout this campaign, reminding us that progress may be hard-won, but it is always within reach when we persist.

I sincerely welcome feedback—positive or constructive—on how we can continue building on this momentum. Please feel free to reach out by email, phone, or text. Your thoughts matter and will help shape the path ahead.

Unity for November

As we look toward the general election, I am committed to supporting the Democratic nominee, Teresa Benítez-Thompson, so we can keep our district moving forward and ensure our community’s hopes remain at the center of our representation. Our work is far from over, and I am optimistic that by uniting behind our shared values, we will create positive change together.

Looking to the Future

This may have been my first campaign, but it will not be my last. The energy and dedication you brought to this effort are just the beginning. As John F. Kennedy, Jr. said, "If not us, who? If not now, when?" I am filled with hope for the future, knowing that together, we will continue to fight for the change we want to see and make a lasting difference.

Thank you again for standing with me. Onward, together.

In the end, this campaign was never about me—it has always been about all of us. Our shared dreams, our tireless efforts, and our collective hope for a better tomorrow are what truly matter.

With gratitude,

Gamy Enriquez, MPA
