A Special Message to My Non-Partisan Friends in Nevada’s Second Congressional District
Dear Friends,
This message is especially for my non-partisan friends throughout Nevada’s Second Congressional District. As many of you will recall, I was a lead activist for the non-partisan ballot measure known as Question 3, which would have established open primaries and top-five ranked-choice voting. While we fought hard for this reform, both major parties came together in rare bipartisan agreement—sadly, not to support, but to oppose Question 3. Through organized disinformation and misinformation, they succeeded in blocking a measure that would have empowered every Nevadan, regardless of party affiliation.
This experience taught me a vital lesson: we must make our political decisions based on the world as it is, not as we wish it were. I understand that many of you are non-partisan for deeply personal and principled reasons. However, by staying on the sidelines, you risk disenfranchising yourself at a critical moment for our district and our country.
I am the only candidate in this race running on a truly non-partisan platform—one that champions universal economic policies for all, from cradle to grave. My signature proposal is a Universal Basic Income: $1,300 per month for every Nevadan, paid for by making billionaires like those at Tesla and Amazon contribute their fair share. This campaign is not about left or right, conservative or progressive, Republican or Democrat—it is about human rights, dignity, and freedom for everyone.
To my non-partisan friends: I am asking you to become a Democrat for a day so you can exercise your power in this election. Your voice matters more than ever. If elected, I will bring election reform to Congress, fighting for non-partisan open primaries and top-five ranked-choice voting at the federal level—building on the spirit of Nevada’s Question 3 and reflecting the most promising reforms, like Rep. Jamie Raskin’s recent bill.
This campaign is about putting people—not parties—first. Let’s make history together.
With hope and determination,
Gamy Enriquez. MPA
Independent Democratic Candidate, NVCD-02
