As our community continues to grow and thrive here in Northern Nevada, we face the persistent challenge of securing a sustainable water future. Our region's prosperity depends directly on our ability to manage our water resources with vision and foresight. While some look to distant solutions like desalination, the true path forward lies right here at home, through investing in and improving advanced water purification technologies.

We must champion and financially support collaborative efforts like OneWater Nevada. This partnership among regional agencies has already demonstrated incredible potential through demonstration projects. These studies are not academic exercises; they are vital steps toward understanding how we can safely and reliably augment our drinking water supplies using highly purified water.

As a candidate for Congress in Nevada's Second Congressional District, water security will be my top priority. The advanced water purification facility that recently broke ground in Reno is a perfect example of the forward-thinking infrastructure we need. By treating local wastewater to standards that exceed all drinking water regulations, and then passing it through a natural environmental buffer in an underground aquifer, this facility provides a secure and resilient water source. We need to expand this model and study how to build more of these systems at a lower cost and with greater efficiency.

Investing in these technologies is an investment in our collective future. It allows us to be responsible stewards of our environment while ensuring water security for generations to come. We must prioritize research and development to make advanced purification the cornerstone of our water management strategy.
